No doubt, electrical devices have become essential and we can hardly imagine our lives without them. Meanwhile, it is an open secret that they can pose high-risks especially if they were manufactured without complying with safety requirements.

Nowadays almost every electrical device or equipment meant for use at voltage from 50 up to 1000 AC and from 75 up to 1500 V DC is subject to mandatory certification to Customs Union Technical Regulations 004/2011 “Safety of low-voltage equipment”.

Technical Regulations 020/2011 “Electromagnetic compatiblity” compels a manufacturer to test electical devices capable to emit electromagnetic interference for compatibility with other such devices.

Apart from that, since March, 2020 it’s necessary to comply with CU TR 037/2016 (= Russian Rohs) that restricts the use of certain harazdous substances in equipment.

The three mentioned CU TR include identical lists of products subject to certification. In other words, to certify your products you might need to confirm compliance with all of them.

Practice shows, some clients who just turned to Open Cert, want their products certified according to only one Customs Union Technical Regulation though it is better to opt for an integrated Declaration of Conformity to 3 CU TR: 004/2011, 020/2011 and 037/2016. As a result, they pay through the nose as later they have to confirm compliance with the rest of relevant CU TR.

Just to compare, if you issue Declarations individually, it may cost you 119 Euro for CU TR 004 + 119 Euro for CU TR 020 + 279 Euro for CU TR 037. Total: 517 Euro. At the same time, our integrated Declaration of Conformity to 3 CU TR will account for only 309 Euro.

Declaration VS Certificate: what is the difference?

Both documents have equal legal force, the difference lies in testing methods and forms of the documents. A Declaration is usually printed on a white A4-size form, while a Certificate requires a yellow form of strict accounting.
