EAC to extend tax-free period for anti-COVID products
Eurasian European Commission decided to extend tax-free period for products used to curb coronavirus outbreak. This relief will be available from October, 1, 2020 until March, 31, 2021.A list of tax-free items includes:
-COVID-19 tests
-sample bags, lab freezers
-sanitizers
-disposable individual protection means (masks, shoe covers)
-bandages, surgical cotton
Along with that, it is still possible to import tax-free some components for production of medicine and sanitizers; respirators, protection glasses, medical devices and stretchers.
“We extend tax-free period to equip medical professionals and citizens with protection means and medical equipment. This is a step that will help us effectively address the challenge of the pandemic. However, as concerns products outside the outlined list we have them in abundance and therefore don’t need to increase their import volumes”, Trade minister, member to the EAC, Andrey Slepnev said.
NB: Anti-COVID products imported to EAEU are tax-free according to EAC resolution №21 from March, 16, 2020 provided that an importer has documents in place certifying product purpose, given by an EAC-authorized body.
