ISO 9001: what is to come?
International standard ISO 9001 “Quality Management system” is one of those standards that won recognition all over the globe. Statistics show, there are more than 900 thousand ISO certificates in the world, covering over 1 million production sides in almost every country.
ISO 9001 shapes the basic requirements to a number of industrial standards in car industry, aerospace engineering and others. Quality management system developing and implementing involves tens of thousands people globally.
First published in 1987, ISO 9001 got 4 editions addressing the challenges of ever-changing world economy and keeping the pace with technical progress and public trends. In Russia ISO 9001 standards were adopted as national ones, with Russian experts making a valuable contribution to the work of ISO/TC 176 Committee from the moment ISO 9001 came out.
In November, 2019 ISO decided to launch a global survey on ISO 9001 future. The international target group involved in poll development and preparation for ISO 9001 revision includes a Russian expert Valentin Dzedik, assigned deputy chair.
The survey is expected to collect the following data:
– benefits that companies enjoys after implementing a quality management system based on newest ISO version 9001:2015;
-pros and cons of the standard;
-respondents’ perception on how to ensure relevance of ISO 9001 in the future
Nonetheless, the key question lies in the very future of ISO 9001: is it to stay the same for the next 5 year to come, to be amended or extended with more requirements.
