EAC certification of clothes

The same as in the European Union, any import product is subject to certification in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). In Europe a manufacturer or importing company is supposed to obtain an EU Declaration of Conformity stating that the product meets the existing rules and directives. Similarly, in EAEU member-states certification is mandatory.

EAC certification: basic info

In the EAEU there are two types of certification documents: EAC Declaration of Conformity and Certificate of Conformity. They contain all relevant information about the product: its name, name of the manufacturer, a list of standards and techical regulations it conforms to.

Without such a document a company can't export products to the territory of Russia or EAEU. They will simply be unable to pass the customs clearance.

EAC certification of clothes

Textile products are also subject to mandatory certification. What is crucial, it is not always on the surface, what document a company will need - Declaration or Certificate. Putting it simplistically,

Certificate is needed for so-called first-layer clothes: underwear, T-shirts, socks
Declarations are required for a bigger number of items: trousers, skirts, dresses, shirts, scarves, etc.

However, neither of the documents can be issued without a Test report. A Test report is prepared by a laboratory after sample examination. For EAC Certificates tests are more complicated and time-consuming. As regards Declarations, it depends on the certification scheme. The most popular scheme that is likely to be applied for clothes certification is 3d or 4d. However, only an expert can give a more precise answer and only based on the data about the product from the client.

Declaration VS Certificate: what is the difference?
