What if EAC Certificate or Declaration are not required?

Exemption letter: your safe pass through customs

The thing is that you still need an official document proving that your product doesn’t require a Declaration or Certificate. This document is called Exemption letter (also: Refusal letter). Budget-friendly and yet vital for passing the customs clearance, Exemption letter is given by a certification center as a reply to a certification application.

EAC Declaration VS EAC Certificate: what is the difference?

Both documents have equal legal force, the difference lies in testing methods and forms of the documents. A Declaration is usually printed on a white A4-size form, while a Certificate requires a yellow form of strict accounting.

Can I choose what document to obtain?

Unfortunately, you can't. All the information concerning certification procedures is included in the Technical regulations. If a TR states that a certain type of products requires a Certificate, it is the only right option for the company to avoid problems.
